ChatGPT + SHIFT_
Connect SHIFT to ChatGPT
Add SHIFT as an MCP connector in ChatGPT — the same server Claude uses — and just ask in plain English. Prefer building your own GPT? Use the SHIFT API. No code required.
Add SHIFT as a custom connector — the same MCP server Claude uses — and ask in plain English. No code, no OpenAPI spec.
Requires a paid ChatGPT plan (Plus, Pro, Business, or Enterprise) with connector developer mode. Custom connectors aren’t available on the free tier.
Enable developer mode
In ChatGPT, open Settings → Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
On Business / Enterprise, a workspace owner may need to allow custom connectors first.
Add the SHIFT connector
Click Create (or Add), name it SHIFT, and paste this as the MCP Server URL:
https://mcp.shiftsyndicate.ca/mcpSave and start chatting
Enable the SHIFT connector in your conversation. To view or book on your behalf, ask ChatGPT to “sign in to SHIFT” — approve the short code in your browser once.
Prefer to build your own GPT? Point a Custom GPT’s Action at the SHIFT API — ChatGPT imports every endpoint from the OpenAPI spec. Also paid-plan only.
Create a Custom GPT
Go to chatgpt.com → Explore GPTs → Create, then open the Actions tab → Create new action.
Import the SHIFT API spec
Paste the OpenAPI spec URL — ChatGPT imports all endpoints automatically:
https://shiftsyndicate.ca/api/v1/docsFor booking access, set Authentication → API Key → Header X-Shift-API-Key and paste your key (also accepted as a Bearer token). Then Save.
What you can ask
For your own bookings
Search and availability work with no account. To view or create bookings through the MCP connector (Option A), ask ChatGPT to “sign in to SHIFT” — approve a short code in your browser once. Built a Custom GPT (Option B)? Set its Action auth to your API key (X-Shift-API-Key header, also accepted as Bearer).
